Live each day as if they deploy tomorrow...

Somewhere between the Christmas lights and the constant fall of snow this winter, I found myself wondering what life would be like when the phone stopped ringing and the letters stopped coming. Every chance we had to be together, we took it (and 1,000 pictures) and began making plans. We called it "making memories".

Couples can become so complacent with one another; always doing the same things. We took the distance that separated us as an opportunity to spend the little time we had together doing things we could later laugh about or at least recall with a smile. In fact, our last couple of days together we spent going through the pictures of the past year.

My favorite picture is from our summer '09 trip to the San Diego Zoo. We had spent much of the day walking around the park and decided to rest at a bench. Camera ready, I started to snap some pictures. I knew I'd be headed back to the east coast and wanted as many pictures of us together as possible. In one particular frame I licked his face, something he does to me. It's probably not the most flattering picture of us, but it always makes me laugh. And isn't that what life is all about?!

I am so thankful that I have so many wonderful memories of us to get me through the next few months. Wherever you are, know that I am thinking of you and anxious to get back to laughing my way through life with you.
